When it comes to the winter season, we tend to pack away the minimal makeup products, say 'bye' to the sun kissed summer glow, and hello to warm and deep tones, as well as slightly heavier coverage foundation. Whether you have an 'English Rose' complexion, or olive undertones; we have come up with our top five favourite makeup shades for this season!
Keeping it neutral
When it comes to lipstick, it is hard to beat a good old nude lip. Made famous from the nineties era with the likes of supermodel Cindy Crawford rocking it, nude shades tend to look great on most people. We love them for an everyday barely there look, created perfectly with Charlotte Tilbury's 'Penelope Pink', or for a heavier day to night transition, Kylie Jenner's ultimate favourite Mac lipstick in Velvet Teddy is stunning. A nude lip goes gorgeously, with a subtle yet long lash look, to nail this trend we recommend trying Red Cherry falsies in style Sage (#523). These lashes are lightweight with a natural, simplistic appearance, yet still add a slightly glam element due to their luscious length! Perfect for all seasons but a firm favourite in the winter.
A smokey eye with a twist
With the winter, comes a change in colour schemes, what once were pastels have been replaced with reds, browns, and any excuse to go more dramatic with your overall look. Why not step out of your comfort zone and opt for a more exciting eye look? Create a signature smokey eye with greys and blacks, and add a bright colour under the lower lash line to really make your eyes pop! Whether it’s green, purple or red this is a beautiful way to update a simple smoky eye into something more extravagant, and is currently a hit on Instagram. We also love coloured lashes, or a bright coloured eyeliner; as seen on Kim Kardashian for a slightly different look. Why not try a dark eye, with some Ardell Color Impact Demi Wispies in Blue - these really accentuate brown eyes and make you stand out.
Go for gold
For an ultra glamorous look, you cannot go wrong with gold eyes. Add a glittery gold shadow to the lid - we recommend a cream shadow for a soft but stand out look, and pair with some luscious Lilly Lashes in bestselling style Mykonos.
Make it metallic
If you love to add some edge to your makeup, then why not go metallic? Seen as the theme of many celebrities’ outfits for this year’s Met Ball, this look is still super stylish. We love a gun metal coloured shadow, or a metallic silver liquid liner to add a really cool element to your look. If you want to look like a complete ultimate rock chick, then go for big, backcombed hair and of course add some falsies to finish the look. We're loving the House of Lashes in style Featherette as they're slightly spiky, and double layered for the best volume and drama.
Browns and burnt orange
Even though autumn is over, we still find the browns and reds a gorgeous option for the colder months. We are absolutely loving the shades found in the Morphe 35O eyeshadow palette, with burnt orange being a firm favourite. This gives a stand out vibe, and looks stunning with some heavy black eyeliner (or brown for a softer effect) as well as lashes to complete the look. LashXO in Style Femme Belle, are full and fanned out falsies with a fluffy appearance, which would look fab alongside an orangey eyeshadow or even warm brown shades for those less adventurous!
