GDPR - Your Privacy Matters To Us!

Posted on by Nick Whitmore

The new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR for short) are now in force, and we wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on how we have refined our internal systems and procedures to ensure that we're compliant with the new regulations.

We take the privacy of our customers extremely seriously - and even before GDPR rules came into force, we have always put your privacy at the forefront of everything we do. For that reason, we will never ever sell, share or otherwise make available any of your information to third parties, except for through the normal usage of software and systems that we use to deliver your online experience with us.

We believe in a completely fair and transparent experience for our customers. If you feel there are areas that require clarity in this blog post, our cookie policy or our privacy policy, please contact us so that we can identify and carry out the appropriate action.

Email marketing

Since we started in 2013, we have only ever emailed people with their explicit consent. We have never emailed people unless they have consented to hearing from us. We have never bought email lists or scraped email lists from the wider internet - we've only ever emailed people who have indicated they wanted to hear from us. We will continue to do this.

If you ever decide that you'd no longer like to hear from us via email, then it's super simple to stop receiving emails from us. All of our email newsletters have an unsubscribe button in the footer - just click this and follow the brief instructions, and you'll be removed from our newsletter lists.

There are a few emails that you cannot unsubscribe from - these are generally order confirmation and dispatch confirmation notifications, as well as payment receipts.

Cookies

Our website uses a technology called 'cookies' in order to deliver a seamless user experience, and to ensure our site is functional. Without cookies, for example, you wouldn't be able to add items to your cart.

While cookies generally get a bad press because people don't really understand them, we only use cookies that are necessary for us to carry out the below:

  • To ensure the website functions as expected, to allow you to add items to your cart, login to your user account etc.
  • To provide you with stock alert notifications, where you opt to receive these
  • To collect analytics and data from our website so we can best optimise the user experience on an on-going basis
  • To track purchases made via affiliate sources, such as cashback websites, voucher code websites, blogs and more
  • To track purchases made after customers have clicked on paid advertising on networks such as Bing, Facebook and Google
  • To display product and service reviews on our website, from third party platforms that collect those reviews for us, such as Stamped.io and Trustpilot
  • To display content from social media platforms that may be embedded on our website, for example YouTube videos

In all major browsers, it is possible to disable cookies (some basic instructions can be found here: https://www.wikihow.com/Disable-Cookies) - however, please be aware that by disabling cookies on our website, the cart will not function on our website and you will be unable to make a purchase or checkout with us.

We only collect data that we need

When you place an order with us, there are certain pieces of information that we need to fulfil your order. We will always ask for your name, full address (both billing and shipping addresses),

We also offer order updates via text message, however it is entirely at your discretion as to whether you provide a telephone number to us. This information is not required in order for you to purchase from our website.

Sometimes companies collect data that they don't strictly need in order to fulfil your order, or for their website(s) to function. We will never collect sensitive information such as gender, ethnicity, sexuality or anything else that is not directly relevant to our business.

Of course there's a great deal more to GDPR than just email marketing, cookies and the collection of data. We just wanted to take this opportunity to assure you of our best intentions at all times, and that we will be reviewing our GDPR compliance on an on-going basis to ensure that your privacy is always dealt with in the most appropriate manner.

If you have any questions or concerns at any time, we'll always be glad to listen and assist you. Please contact hello@falseeyelashes.co.uk or telephone 0800 056 3905, and we'll be glad to help you further.
