False Eyelashes vs. Mascara: Pros and Cons

Tags

When looking to achieve long, fluttery lashes, the two main options we tend to turn to are mascara and of course false lashes. Here at FalseEyelashes.co.uk, we offer a wide range of both! Of course, we specialise in selling false lashes, but we also understand some people prefer mascara, and it can be seen as the quicker alternative if you’re in a rush to get ready most mornings. We also think, the effect you get from false lashes is difficult if not impossible to recreate with mascara alone. So, which one should you go for?

Here at FalseEyelashes.co.uk, we offer over 1000 different styles of false lashes. From pre-glued, to black and brown styles, we are confident that we cater to beginners as well as those more experienced lash lovers. If you’re finding it tricky to decide whether false lashes or mascara are the best pick for you, we’ve weighed up some of the pros and cons to make the decision a little easier.

False lashes

The great thing about false lashes is their obvious ability to completely transform your look, whether you require a soft, subtle style or an overly dramatic, ultra-glam pair – falsies seem to be the way forward when it comes to completing a range of different makeup vibes. That being said, they aren’t for everyone, but they are ideal for achieving an effortless enhancement (once you have nailed the application process).

Pros:

  • Extensive range of lashes available
  • Ideal for a number of occasions
  • Create any look in minutes
  • Perfect for those with little or no natural lashes
  • Latex free options available
  • More versatile than mascara

Cons:

  • Can be fiddly to apply
  • Not waterproof

Mascara

Mascara is a great option and is often many women’s daily go-to. It’s easy to apply, can last all day and instantly makes you look more awake. With so many formulas on the market, there are also waterproof and smudge proof options available, meaning your mascara will remain perfectly in place all day, despite the weather conditions.

Pros:

  • Quick and easy to apply
  • Naturally enhanced results
  • Range of different formulas available
  • Can stay in place all day
  • Affordable and long-lasting
  • Ideal for everyday wear

Cons:

  • Can make a mess/smudge when applying
  • If not waterproof, it may not last in certain scenarios/conditions
  • It can be hard to find a mascara you like
  • Doesn’t have the same ability to alter your look as much as false lashes

What about both?

For an extra intense look, why stop at just mascara? We recommend for the majority of false lashes, to wear a light coat of mascara on your natural lashes, prior to applying your falsies to allow for a more seamless blend. Not only will this make your eyes ‘pop’, the mascara also helps the false lashes to bond to your own and prevents your natural lashes being obviously visible against the falsies. We don’t however, suggest that you apply mascara directly to the false lashes as this will ruin their shape and effect their quality and performance.

Is mascara your must-have beauty item, or are you a falsies fanatic?
