About Eylure Lashes

Eylure were literally one of the first celebrity lashes - founded at the end of WWII by the Aylott brothers (Eric and David) who were makeup artists for the British film industry. Makeup artists by day, and entrepreneurs by night, the brothers created a business that became one of the best-loved employers in their hometown of Wellwyn Garden City and one of the most iconic lash manufacturers in the world. You can see a video of one of their early products below - from 1948!

Eylure have always set the standard for lashes, but have also been developed to maintain a price that is accessible and affordable for anyone looking to recreate the flawless looks of the biggest celebs, helping us create beautiful eyes that are both alluring and sophisticated.

The origins of Eylure lashes

The Aylott brothers were born into the British film industry - their dad (also a David Aylott) was an actor, writer and director in the early days of British silent films! However, while working as makeup artists, they became unhappy with the quality of eyelashes available and decided to make a little extra money by solving the problem.

Little did they know, but they were about to take the cosmetics industry (and the world) by storm! All starting from their front room, they went on to provide high-class and high-quality products the whole world around!

Eylure lashes hit the mainstream

Eylure’s false lashes quickly became a staple on film and then in department stores and chemists across the UK - and, by the 1960s, Eylure was regularly featured in Vogue magazine and worn by the likes of the iconic Twiggy, an English supermodel, actress and singer. No wonder Eylure became the UK's favourite brand for false lashes! 

Eylure's international success

Because of their success on the globally significant English fashion scene (the swinging 60s might seem like something from Austin Powers now, but Carnaby Street and and Kings Road were the place to be, giving the world: separates, the mini skirt, Vidal Sassoon and more), their shipments often reached as far as Tokyo, Hong Kong and Hollywood - where their lashes starred in many Hollywood Movies.

Top tips for lash perfection

1. Look after your natural lashes first! Once you’ve finished adding a bit of glam with your makeup, you can then focus on your eyes. Keep your lashes clean and fresh, give them a curl, then apply your mascara - then add the finishing touch with your Eylure Lash of choice!

2. Have a little patience... Apply a small amount of adhesive to your lash line, then wait about 30 seconds for the glue to dry a little bit - this prevents your falsies slipping around (and stops you getting stressed out). 

3. Try a little liner to add extra pop! A quick swipe of eyeliner hides any lash band and ups the drama.

4. Experiment! Not every lash style suits every eye shape. Play around to find your perfect match.

5. Trim, Trim, Trim! This cannot be emphasised enough! Your Eylure goodies aren’t perfectly designed for you (unfortunately). Make sure you measure the lash against your eye, and trim the length first! Custom-fitting your falsies is literally the best advice we never get.
