About DUO

Originally owned by the Knomark Manufacturing Company (mostly famous for producing shoe-polishes) before being purchased as part of a larger deal by Revlon in 1957. The brand is now owned by American International Industries, who also manufacture another of our absolute faves - Ardell lashes.

In the early days, however, DUO eyelash glue had a pretty limited line of products due to the fact that false eyelashes were pretty expensive and, because they were a beauty secret used primarily by actresses and models, there was no need for the extensive range they now supply.

When falsies exploded in popularity in the 1970s, as more and more people discovered the secret of Hollywood perfect luscious lashes (especially after the Miss USA beauty pageant contestants revealed that one of their ultimate beauty secrets was, in fact, false eyelashes), DUO - which was already selling in supermarkets and American drugstores - quickly established itself as the go-to adhesive.

DUO Clear Tones

The most popular DUO adhesive formulas are, of course, the original clear tone products which it produces across most ranges, from the standard DUO Quick Set Strip Lash Adhesive Clear Tone (available in a travel-friendly 7g tube or a 14g tube for makeup artists, beauty professionals and the lash obsessed) to Underlash Bond & Seal. 

These adhesives apply white and dry clear to give you the great control of an opaque adhesive, but a seamless blend once you’ve applied your lashes.

DUO Black & White Tones

If you’re super confident about quickly and precisely applying your lashes, then you might prefer using one of DUO’s black or white lash adhesives to help improve your lash definition and give you that flawless eyeliner effect during application (without having to worry about smudging or reapplying throughout the day).

Use advice for DUO Dark & Light Tone adhesives

You can either squeeze the DUO adhesive onto a cotton bud, or apply it directly onto the lash band (if you have a steady hand!!), but you then need to wait for the adhesive to go slightly tacky (this takes approximately 4-5 seconds - try to be patient, it really does help).

Once a little tacky, you’re good to go and can apply your false lashes knowing you can get the perfect position and hold!

If you’re wondering how it works - simply apply a small amount of lash glue to a piece of tin foil, then use tweezers to gently pull your individual eyelash cluster through the adhesive and apply as usual.

How To Use DUO Lash Glue

The application of your false lashes will vary slightly, depending on the lash style you have chosen. Fortunately, DUO manufactures both DUO Individual Lash Adhesive and DUO Striplash Adhesive. Here’s how to use these products:

For Strip Lashes

• Check the fit of your desired strip lashes, then make sure you cut them to fit the size and shape of your eye;
• Apply a thin bead of DUO striplash adhesive along the length of the lash band;
• Pop the lashes in place and press down gently to secure (gently helps to prevent slippage and smudging of the line).

For Individual and Flare Lashes

• Pour a couple of drops of the glue onto a piece of foil or Jade Stone;
• Pick up an individual lash or flare cluster using tweezers;
• Pull the knot or end of the lash through the DUO Individual Lash Adhesive;
• Pop the lash on top of your natural lash line - the aim here is to get the knot as close to your natural eyelid as possible (but without hurting yourself or causing discomfort).
