The Removal of Strip Lashes

the-removal-of-strip-lashes

If you’re new to wearing strip lashes, or even if you’re a regular falsies wearer, it is likely that you don’t know the best way to remove them. There is also the misconception of it being painful or difficult to remove them, however that really isn’t the case if you know exactly how to take your lashes off properly.

Removing strip lashes carefully and correctly not only keeps them in good condition, but it also allows you to reuse them and prevents your natural lashes from being damaged. This post will provide an in depth guide on everything you need to know about the removal of strip lashes.

What you will need:

  • A mirror
  • Tweezers
  • Baby oil or an oil-based cleanser
  • A gentle eye makeup remover
  • A lash case (not essential)

Top tips that will make removal easier:

  • Don’t apply too much lash glue to the lash band when applying, just add a thin layer, otherwise the lashes will be harder to remove and your falsies could get ruined
  • Use a high quality adhesive
  • Try not to apply makeup/mascara directly to the lashes as this will prevent them from being reusable

If you haven’t used too much lash adhesive, then the first removal step should be really quick and straightforward. Make sure you have a mirror level with your face on a flat surface to make things easier. Simply pinch the lash from the outer corner either with your fingers or a pair of tweezers and very gently pull it away from your lash line. It should just come away with ease.

If you feel as though you may have used too much adhesive, or that your lashes have quite a firm hold, then you may need a little extra help with removing them. This step is also useful if you have sensitive eyes, as you won’t need to ‘pull’ the lash as much.

Apply an oil-based cleanser or a tiny amount of baby oil to a cotton bud, and softly swipe this along the lash line/band. The oil works to break down the adhesive while acting like a lubricant and allowing them to slide off.

Once you have removed the lashes, the next step is to remove any excess adhesive that may be left on your lash line and the lash band. To effectively remove this, again an oil-based product works best, so for your eyes you can use an eye makeup remover.

We recommend using an oil infused micellar water as this has a very gentle yet effective formula and again the oil helps to dissolve the adhesive and eliminate any sticky residue left behind.

To remove adhesive from the lash band, use a cotton bud with a gentle eye makeup remover or micellar water and wipe it along the band. You may also need to very carefully peel bits of adhesive off using a pair of tweezers, but be sure to be very gentle with this step, as lashes can be extremely delicate and you could easily ruin them.

Always be careful not to get any baby oil or makeup remover in your eyes, and if this occurs, thoroughly rinse the area out with clean, cold water immediately.

Once all of the adhesive has been removed from the false lashes and your eyes successfully, finding a safe and suitable place to store your falsies is key if you’re wanting to reuse them. We recommend using a lash case to ensure your lashes remain in the best possible condition.

Here at FalseEyelashes.co.uk, we offer a selection of lash cases ranging in size that are perfect for both personal and professional use. They have room for more than one pair of falsies, as well as space for other essential lash accessories such as an applicator, tweezers, adhesive and mini scissors.

How to remove Strip Lashes and Pre Glued Lashes

What you will need:

  • A mirror
  • Tweezers
  • Baby oil or an oil-based cleanser
  • A gentle eye makeup remover

Removing Pre Glued Strip Lashes is extremely similar to removing standard strip lashes, however there are a couple of things that differ slightly. You may find that the adhesive used on the pre glued lashes is slightly stronger in comparison to strip lash adhesive that you apply yourself, as it is designed to remain sticky and not dry out in the packaging prior to application.

Also, you don’t need to take as much care with the lashes themselves, as pre glued lashes are only supposed to be worn once.

Using baby oil or a cleanser on a cotton bud is a really effective method of breaking down the pre glued adhesive, and I would definitely recommend using this step before pinching the lashes off, as they do provide a firmer hold than standard strip lashes and adhesive.

You can use tweezers or your fingers to peel the lashes off, tweezers may be best for securing a firmer grip.

Once you have eased the adhesive off, you simply dispose of pre glued lashes as they can’t be reused. You can then go on to use a cleanser to remove any leftover adhesive from your eyes and natural lashes.

Three things to remember when removing your strip lashes:

  • Be careful and don’t rip them off or you will damage your natural lashes which will be painful
  • If you’re removing standard strip lashes, remove the adhesive from the band once you’ve taken the lashes off so they can be reused
  • Store your lashes in a lash case once removed to ensure they’re ready to be worn again!
